While mentioning your offers is important, exposing who you are is essential for building trust as a service based entrepreneur. When you are marketing, sales should be the LAST thing on your mind. Give your audience value and show up wanting to help them in every way that you can. 

You can’t build trust with your audience if you are always asking for their money and never giving them what they need. People are always thinking, consciously or  subconsciously, “What’s in it for me?”

Here are some ways you can build trust with your dream clients.

Give them ALL of the value

Psychology suggests that when you give something valuable away for free, that person innately feels like they owe you something. It also makes you incredibly likable and trustworthy. It also makes them think… If this is her free offer, how amazing will it be when I invest in her?

Continuously providing free tips will make your audience realize that you are the expert in your field. If you clearly know all of the things and talk about it all of the time, you will become the guru and when they are interested in that service, you will be the one they contact.

Ask Them What They Need

Those story polls are an incredibly strong marketing tool because you are not only doing market research,  you are also showing them that you care. How many times have you posted something that you thought was brilliant and got 5 likes on it? While other times, you post something you think is obvious information and you get a TON of likes and engagement? This is because you truly don’t know what your audience needs unless you test it.

You can use this tactic in anything; whether you’re creating an online course or a new program, let your audience give you feedback and tell you exactly what they need.

Love on them 

A substantial portion of your marketing should include engaging with your potential customers and showing them genuine support.  You must give before you take. 

Is there a better feeling than someone loving all over your digital marketing content? There are those who slide into your DMs virtually throwing up their offers and naturally repelling, and then there are those who give you a compliment, or take genuine interest in what you have going on. I can’t help but love these people, even if I know they might eventually sell something to me, at that point I’m ready to hear it because I feel like they are genuinely supporting me and their intentions are in the right place.

Share Your Story

How did you get started? Where are you from? How do you relax? These topics might seem completely unrelated to marketing but consider what makes you do business with someone over anyone else who offers similar services. Are you from the same part of the country, do you have similar political views? It’s important to expose your personality, which is also an important aspect of brand identity.

This includes talking about personal things like your vulnerability, pictures of your family, and even posts about failures and insecurities. If you are willing to be completely transparent, they will feel more comfortable doing business with you.

Regardless of your audience size, take care of them and give them value. 100 followers is still 100 people! Create and share the same content you would even if you had a million followers.
